The no brainer hat

I knitted a wee hat recently for a fellow rugby mums baby boy, in our teams colours naturally. He'll probably be starting rugby just as her other son moves up to the seniors so she's got a good few more years than me standing at those sidelines!

So, here you go. My no brainer hat (approx 0 - 6 months)

4mm needles, around 20g DK (I weighed the hat!!)

Cast on 82 sts & work 2x2 rib for 9cm.

To shape top -
1st row - K2, *P2tog, K2. Repeat from * to end of row
2nd row - P2, *K1, P2. Repeat from * to end of row
3rd row - K2, *P1, K2. Repeat from * to end of row
4th row - as 2nd row
5th row - K2tog, *P1, K2tog. Repeat from * to end of row
6th row - P1, *K1, P1. Repeat from * to end of row
7th row - K1, *P1, K1. Repeat from * to end of row
8th row - as 6th row
9th row- K1, *P3tog, K1. Repeat from * to end of row
10th row - as 6th row
11th row - K1, *K2tog. Repeat from * to end of row

Break yarn , thread through stitches on needle, pull up & fasten off. Join back seam.

A friend said tonight I should be promoting nice easy patterns at the shop on the run up to our first "Knit & Knatter"....... just because she can't knit, talk & eat cake at the same time ;) I reckon this one is easy enough for starters.
