Plant pot cozy

I do love a Wednesday evening. Child one and him indoors go to rugby training, child two's away to drama club and I get two hours peace and quiet......aaaaaaahhh :)

So, this is what I did in those two hours. I made a plant pot cozy. It's a quick knit for those ends of yarn we all have. I figured if it was okay for a paper coffee cup play dress up then why can't my poor wee plastic plant pot.

(my pot measures 9cm in diameter across the bottom, 13.5cm across the top & is 13cm high)

Plant pot cozy - main part
6mm needles, approx 20g chunky yarn

Cast on 40 sts & work 2x2 rib for 13cm.
Cast off and join seam.

4mm needles, scraps of DK yarn

Cast on 30 sts & knit 2 rows
3rd row - K1, cast off 4sts, rpt to end (10 sts)
Break yarn, thread through sts, draw up & fasten off. You might need to join the first & last petals.

4mm needles, scrap of yarn

Cast on 2sts & knit 4 rows
5th row - inc 1 on both sts (4sts)
6th row - knit
7th - inc 1 in first & last st

rpt 7th & 8th row until there are 12 sts

Dec row - K2tog, K8, K2tog
Dec row - K2tog, K6, K2tog

And that's all there is too it really. You can play about with colours and add buttons or flowers or bows or whatever takes your fancy really.
